Church to Population Ratios

In the Orlando metro area, there is 1 SBC church for every 12,000 people.  That means our region is 2x as unreached as the rest of Florida and 4x as unreached as NAMB’s southern region.  It would take every GOBA church committing to planting 1 new church per year for the next four years to catch up with the southern region in terms of SBC church to population ratios.

However, not every church is healthy and not every church is ready to reproduce. More of the burden of church planting is falling on churches that can start multiple churches and build reproduction into the DNA of new churches.  By helping churches to become church planting centers, we hope to see an exponential increase in church planting that will not only get us caught up, but will put us on the path of regional transformation as thousands of people come to know Christ and are being discipled by local churches.

Central Florida is known to the nation as a place where homelessness is rampant and high profile crimes are committed. According to the Polis Institute, There are 507 neighborhoods in Orange and Seminole Counties and 100 of them are in distress.  Government programs and community service organizations are trying to address physical issues in our communities, however, we believe that spiritually transformed lives will transform our communities and the entire Central Florida region.  The greatest hope for Central Florida and the world is the gospel of Jesus Christ. Church Planting begins with abundant gospel sowing and continues with a harvest of people who have become committed followers of Jesus Christ who lead others to Jesus.  Your church can make a difference in Central Florida by starting new churches, clustering with other churches as a co-sponsor, praying for church planters and new churches, and giving to new churches.
